Siren and Mermaid Myths:
At the vibrational core

What if the Sirens’ Song was never a warning, but a portal?
Step into a remembrance where voice, water and ancient beauty meet—and sing us home.

Weaving together the physics of water, mythology and feminine cosmology

This page shares insights from my doctoral research into the Siren Song myth—a myth often misunderstood, yet still alive in our collective memory.

What if the Sirens were not dangerous temptresses, but sacred singers by the sea? This is a story of reclamation: of voice, of water and of the feminine.

It reflects a key insight from my PhD—a project that blends myth, voice studies, ecology and sacred feminine remembrance.

The Sirens: Sacred Singers Rewritten

For centuries, the myth of the Sirens has been told and retold—often as a cautionary tale, where feminine song is seductive and dangerous, luring sailors to their doom.

Most academic interpretations of the Sirens emphasise them as representing the call of the soul, the feminine unconscious, or poetic inspiration…

But what if this is only a fragment of a much deeper truth that we are just beginning to remember?

The Siren by John William Waterhouse, 1900

I always felt a deep curiosity to join the Sirens and the Mermaids, to learn from their side of the story...

Co-creating Enchantment With Water

In my decade of research—culminating in a PhD on Siren Song and Vocal Enchantment—I began to see what had been left out of the myth’s retellings.

In every version of the Siren scene, the "enchanting" song is sung by water, toward water, through water.

The fact that the Sirens’ enchanting song always occurs near water seemed meaningful, not coincidental, like a secret code about voice hidden within this ancient myth about the power of voice.

The Siren (by John William Waterhouse, 1900) with my intervention showing the impact of the Song in the water

For we know today, through the science of Cymatics and research into crystallography (the study of how water forms patterns in ice), that vibrations and water are always working together…Water makes this knowledge visible.

We also know today, in patriarchal paradigms, the feminine voice—intuitive, emotional—was (and is) especially targeted. The singing, spell-casting, soul-weaving woman was seen as dangerous… and so the Siren was demonised…And thats the main narrative we have inherited about the Sirens, a narrative that continues to shape our listening and our voicing.

What comes to your mind and heart when I say "Siren Song" or "Mermaid Song"?

Pause, listen—what does your voice remember?

From Demonisation to Reclamation

And so I ask, if we travel to a frequency before patriarchy:

What if the Sirens were not malevolent, but Water Priestesses—keepers of sacred song who knew how to shape emotion, remembrance, and soul-awakening through sound and sea?

Singing the world into being through hig

“What if the Siren’s enchanting power is not just in her voice—but in how her voice moves through the waters?”

What If We Sing With The Sirens’ Awareness?

Let these images of the Singing Beings by the Water instil the ancient connection between Voice and Water and the Sirensas potential Water Priestesses...

What if the Sirens and Mermaids are coming through now as Water Priestesses to help us back into Singing (not as only performance, but as a devotional act of sounding harmony with our Earth)?

Are You Drawn To This Interpretation Of The Siren Myth?

I give lectures and workshops where I combine voice studies, mythology, modern water science and water priestess arts to illuminate new possibilities for our Song.

We Remember Together Through The Song

Long ago, before the age of forgetting,
There were beings who sang with the sea.
They were not figments, not fantasies —
But carriers of emotional intelligence,

Keepers of the current of song,
Guardians of vibrational creation

Priestesses of water.

Their voices spelling the waters,

In vibratory communion.

You may know them now as Mermaids.
As Sirens.
Names softened or twisted over time.
Stories bent through fear.

But once — they were revered.
Their song was not temptation.
It was remembrance.

Soothing your ache to sing.

Calling you to share your  unique tone.

Moving you from silence to song.

They are back today,

meeting us at the threshold.

Come and reunite in the Song,

They wait at the shoreline.

The Sirens are singing again — and so can you.
Your voice is sacred.
